Become a Parent Representative

Help Shape Better SEND Services

Do you want to use your experiences as a parent carer to help improve SEND services for families across Central Bedfordshire?

SNAP Parent Carer Forum (SNAP PCF) is looking for parent carers to join our team of Parent Representatives.

Working alongside education, health and social care professionals, you'll help ensure the collective voice of parent carers influences the design and improvement of local SEND services. You don't need to be an expert in SEND; your lived experience as a parent carer is your greatest strength.

We'll provide the training and support; you bring your passion for improving services for families.

What does a Parent Representative do?

Every Parent Representative is different, and you can choose opportunities that match your interests and availability. You may be involved in:

  • Attending meetings with local services.
  • Reviewing documents, policies and information.
  • Supporting coffee mornings and engagement events.
  • Gathering feedback from parent carers.
  • Helping improve local SEND services through co-production.

You don't need previous experience—we'll provide training and ongoing support.

A Flexible Role.

We understand that family life is busy. There is no minimum commitment, and you can choose the opportunities that fit around your family, work and other responsibilities. For agreed activities, Parent Representatives work on a self-employed basis and may invoice SNAP PCF for agreed hours worked and authorised expenses.

We're Looking For Parent Carers Who:

  • Want to improve services for all families.
  • Can represent the collective parent voice.
  • Enjoy working with others.
  • Are reliable, respectful and willing to learn.
  • Can work positively with professionals.
  • Have a professional, solution-focused approach. Our
